I'm heavily mixed on the riots honestly, because on one hand yeah they're racist thugs and they're not even accomplishing anything by doing this, and it's nakedly clear this is all far-right ultranationalist manipulation driven by certain forces we're all well aware of causing the same havoc everywhere currently.
On the other, I actually completely get where they're coming from, because it's so nakedly clear to me mass immigration is just neoliberal capitalist nonsense and isn't being done with ANY sort of genuine goodwill or humanitarian interests and is constantly defended almost fanatically by progressives almost literally just because they're immigrants. I mean it's saying something when one of the biggest defenses of it is "Well White people colonized Black and brown people for centuries, what's wrong with a bit of payback?"
... Why is it suddenly 'payback' exactly? Why is THAT the language you use? It's not the checkmate you think it is if you think about it for more than 2 seconds, and partially it makes people actually seeking refuge out to be pawns in some geopolitical game. Plus it bothers me because if you say they ARE "reverse colonizing," well, you've just given the racists reason to start shooting them actually.
Then there's the whole birthrates issue, which again, that's largely a problem of the economic malaise and pisspoor system we have. Bringing in more people from afar... just brings them into the same problem, for starters. Then there's also the issue of why even focus on growth anyway? Haven't we already begun to realize endless growth seeking is a problem? Why not begin transitioning to a graceful decline instead of forcing endless growth at all costs? Well that's not very capitalist thinking, ain't it

It's honestly shocking to me I'm even coming down on this so split, because again, it's like I agree with the rioter's actions; I'm just so much enormously more cynical/suspicious of the arguments against why many of them are angry in the first place, often just reduced to "angry mediocre white men," by ironically stooges of capital who don't realize they're being played to defend neoliberalism, in a game that's largely become "neoliberal capitalists vs nationalist capitalists-possibly-on-the-verge-of-becoming-national-socialists"

My opinion of Andy if he wishes to become prime minister and have a chance to hold off reform is...."His only real chance is to come out against the social media ban on teens, limit immigration, while moving to the left on social and economic topics. Rebuild the nhs, rebuild the safetynet and fund science, tech and education.He need to embrace freedom and the future. He needs to stop the police state, stop bringing in millions of immigrants. I am going to make a prediction that the uk will be below Mexico, Brazil and India in 40 years as an economic power in terms of gdp because of this ban. You're literally separating children from the ability to use tech and to compete as future adults. South Africa, Nigeria, India and even Pakistan don't do this as they want to move up the scale, but the UK wants to lose. I mean wow!

You are going to produce lower quality adults that can't compete in tech. This will become worse then separating from the EU as you're doing this to your own people and their ability to dream.

It's a sad sight to behold. I pray to god America doesn't follow this crap! A few months ago I really wanted the democrats to take it all back but we can't afford one party to hold all power after this and the datacenter crap.

I hope the democrats get the house to stop the anti-lab science crap, anti-attacks on the safetynet and to hold Trump in check on trans rights.

I hope the republicans keep the senate by one vote and that remains so until at least 2032 in case Newsom wins in 2028.
