Elon needs to build dateacenters on the dark side of the moon and make the first purpose of the colony to maintain it. Maybe his robots could build it and get it ready. We don't need millions of satellites in low earth orbit. He could use star ships to lower datacenter towers worth 10-20 of these satellites onto the surface of the moon....This colony would slowly over time could allow tourist and maybe one day long term residents. I am against low orbit as it hurts our ability to launch and orbit real space stations.

He's still a terrible human being, regardless of any tech/business achievements.

Here comes Elon: Tesla wins licence to supply electricity in Britain

Thursday 12 March 2026

Tesla has been granted approval to supply electricity to homes and businesses across the UK, opening the door for the electric vehicle giant to enter the country’s retail energy market.

Energy regulator Ofgem confirmed on Thursday that Tesla Energy Ventures Limited, a subsidiary of Musk’s company, has been granted an electricity supply licence by the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority under the Electricity Act 1989.

The licence allows the company to supply electricity to both domestic and non-domestic customers in England, Scotland and Wales.

Ofgem said the approval followed a seven-month application and assessment process that ran from July 2025 to March 2026.

The licence formally took effect on Wednesday evening, after Tesla was informed of the decision and the instrument was entered into Ofgem’s electronic public register.

We both have to agree that the things he is pro science on he does really well. He possibly the Edison of our time in those areas. On the downside his politics suck and literally makes the robber barons of the 19th century look like the pope.

This is a good idea but I'd rather see it on the moon or position a couple of million miles away from low orbit. Why? Because if we clog up low orbit we could make it dangerous to get into space.

Another Starlink Satellite Has Inexplicably Exploded
By Thomas Ricker
March 31, 2026

Introduction:
(The Verge) SpaceX says it lost contact with a Starlink satellite after suffering an “anomaly.” SpaceX isn’t saying exactly what happened, but space-tracking company LeoLabs says it “immediately detected tens of objects in the vicinity” of Starlink 34343 after the event.

“Latest analysis shows the event poses no new risk to the @Space_Station, its crew, or to the upcoming launch of NASA’s Artemis II mission,” says SpaceX in a message posted to X. “We will continue to monitor the satellite along with any trackable debris and coordinate with @NASA and the @USSpaceForce.”

The satellite and fragments are expected to burn up in the atmosphere within a few weeks. SpaceX says it is working to determine the root cause.
SpaceX suffered a similar episode in December when it suddenly lost communications with a satellite that also seemingly exploded. That incident occurred just a week after a near miss with a Chinese satellite.

The latest mishap occurred at about 560km above the Earth, an increasingly crowded area known as low Earth orbit where over 24,000 objects, including debris and about 10,000 Starlink satellites, are currently being tracked.
