SpaceX Could Launch Block 3 Starship Flight 12 in February or March 2026

January 20, 2026, SpaceX Ship 39 is in the final stages of outfitting in Mega Bay 2 at Starbase. Recent progress includes the installation of aft flaps. This is one of the last major steps before testing. Starship 39 and Booster 19 are needed to be completed and stacked to launch Starship Flight 12. What About It? and other sources provide updates. Pad 2 at Starbase will be used, with Florida sites (LC-39A, SLC-37) progressing for future launches.

Booster 19 is also advancing, with cryo testing completed and preparations for rollout. Sources target February or March.

Cryogenic proof testing and static fires for Ship 39 are needed. Booster 19 must be rolled out and tested.
Pad 2 needs commissioning and work. Reconfiguration is nearly complete, with clamp arms, quick disconnects tested, and final hardware in place.

This is a great idea. mars isn't sustainable without a colony with an economic reason to maintain human presents in space long term. A moon colony and orbitial space tourism is how we build that.

Mars is only possible once we build the ships and infrastructure to sustain 100+ times the range of travel.

I'd rather see 100 humans on the moon with real economic progress and a couple of tourist space stations orbiting earth then a single human on mars. A one off at this point is dumb. When we're reality we can then make mars long term.

SpaceX Starbase Will Double in Size

SpaceX Starbase is where SpaceX builds and launches its most powerful rocket, Starship. It is where rockets are designed, assembled, tested, and launched all in one place. They will build hundreds and maybe thoudsands of Superheavy Starships. They will build thousands of Raptor engines.

They are already expanding it to double its size
