Re: AI & Robotics News and Discussions
I don't care.
I love it.
I fucking dreamed of this
You all remember that
Literally all last decade with me imagining the future of humanoids and talking about how my born-again Singularitarian breakdown happened from watching ASIMO videos in 2014.
I want to watch it fight
And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future

They have more videos it seems

Vengeance at long last
We've been kicking them for years
Now they kick back

Kinda scary, though.
Imagine some real-life Bond villain creating a whole private army of these things, enough to consolidate their power/control, acquire territory, etc.
Stringent regulations will be required (and probably quite soon, judging by how fast they're progressing now).
I mean they're obviously cool to look at... but it's getting to the point where I'm creeped out by some of their movements/abilities.

I think the one regulation that we should put on them is the ability to shut them down. We should have a voice and a switch means of doing so in a fast manner.wjfox wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 3:33 pm

Outside of this I really do want to see humanoid robotics become a big part of society in order to end human labor and slowly move towards a star trek future where work is optional. We do have to make damn sure we can shut it down.
We're also going to have to develop teams within government that work to keep such in check. Lets say for example a criminal or gang gets a hold of these then your local police will also have to develop counters to this...If it is nation states then that will have to be done by intelligence offices like fbi, cia or mi5 or maybe even the military.
There's tons of good that will come but there will need to be a ton of counters and ability to deal with it. probably a lot of this will be done by robotics.
