Tesla faces collapsing sales in Canada's Québec province, with new registrations tumbling 85%

May 30, 2025, 12:35 PM BST

Tesla's sales woes have reached Canada.

Data from the vehicle registration authority in the province of Québec shows a dramatic decline in Tesla registrations in the first quarter of 2025.

[...]

Though confined to one region of Canada, the collapse mirrors similar issues in Europe, where Tesla sales fell by nearly 50% in April despite overall EV demand continuing to grow.

In Québec, as in Europe, demand for electric vehicles remains strong, suggesting that Tesla's slump is less about market conditions and more about the brand itself.

World's largest electric passenger ferry to sail Baltic green corridor
By Paul Ridden

An initiative designed to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of maritime transport in the Gulf of Finland is set to have the world's largest electric passenger-car ferry among its fleet. Operator Viking Line has unveiled the first details of its upcoming Helios vessel.

Viking Line says that its fleet's emissions have been cut by almost a third in the last 15 years, but the company's mission to green its business began much earlier. The ferry operator transitioned to low-sulphur fuel in the early 1990s, followed by a number of other measures to reduce carbon emissions over the years.

Everything new in the 2026 Nissan Leaf electric crossover
By Abhimanyu Ghoshal

Nissan just revealed details on what to expect with its upcoming 2026 Leaf electric vehicle (EV), and it's quite a step up from the current model year.

We're talking all-new styling, longer range on a single charge, and a refreshed cabin with improved creature comforts. Oh, and it's no longer a hatchback.

Indeed, the third-generation Leaf breaks from tradition in more ways than one. Gone are the compact body style and the downward-facing angular grille that's subtly evolved over the model's last 15 years of existence. In their place, you'll see a coupe-SUV with full-width headlights common to many new cars on the market.

There are a bunch more changes that set the new Leaf apart from its predecessor. Here's everything that's new and worth a closer look when you take it for a test drive.

Review: 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV bodes well for GM’s electrified future
By Aaron Turpen
June 30, 2025
https://newatlas.com/automotive/review- ... blazer-ev/
The Chevrolet Blazer has been through more reboots than Peter Parker. This time around, though, it may have stuck the three-point landing. Which is good news for GM’s future.
At a Glance

GM seems to have worked out most of the kinks from the Blazer’s launch
Blazer EV is more like the Equinox EV than the Blazer SUV
Interior is good, but infotainment is a bit quirky
Drive quality is a high point

The future of General Motors’ electric vehicles rests heavily on the Chevrolet Blazer and Equinox EV twins. The Blazer EV’s launch in 2024, however, was not very promising. Software issues in particular were nearly sales killers, crippling the new EV’s consumer interest. A stop-sale and other recalls for some pretty serious issues didn’t bode well either.

When the Equinox EV launched, it helped mitigate some of that disaster by showing that the platform had promise and held some consumer interest. I certainly liked it once it hit my driveway in early 2025.
