Slick plus-sized camper van becomes world's first in-wheel hybrid RV
By C.C. Weiss

British e-drive innovator Bedeo and French motorhome group Trigano have teamed up on the most unique hybrid motorhome in the world. It's called the ElectriX, and it's a Class B+ motorhome that offers over 700 km (435 miles) of driving range with the option of going fully electric at the push of a button. It's the world's first hybridized RV with in-wheel motors and also boasts a smart, sleek design that blurs the line between camper van and motorhome.

For years, Bedeo has been working closely with fleet managers and automakers toward refitting traditional ICE-driven light commercial vehicles as both all-electrics and extended-range hybrids. For the latter, it uses what it simply calls the Range Extender (RE) system, a pair of hub motors and a battery pack that electrify the rear wheels without requiring any changes to the base ICE powertrain up front. Drivers can call upon all-electric RWD power at the push of a button without losing the range and fast refueling of the stock FWD engine.

passenger electric vehicle global sales 2017 - 2024

Post by Tadasuke »

As you can see, total yearly global passenger EV sales between 2023 and 2024 seem to be growing by 20%. They probably grew by 157% between 2021 and 2024. If this 20% CAGR continues, then in 2028 alone, total global passenger EV sales will reach 34.6 million. EVs are becoming more popular in many countries around the world and it is incorrect to assume that new EVs are suddenly going to stop being bought or that innovation in EVs is suddenly gonna cease. In 2024 total number of cars sold around the world will be probably between 71.5 and 79 million.

Tesla Cybertruck Killing Ford F150 Lightning Demand

October 31, 2024 by Brian Wang
https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2024/10/t ... emand.html
Back in January, 2024 Ford cut production of the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning in half. A few months later, Ford also trimmed its workforce at the Rouge plant, shifting some to other facilities and offering others retirement packages. Production of the 2025 Ford F-150 was slated to begin in November, but now, Ford will instead idle assembly lines for seven weeks.

Automotive News, FoMoCo will idle production of the Ford F-150 Lightning at the Rouge facility for seven weeks, starting at the end of the day on November 15th, 2024 and resuming on January 6th, 2025.

Tesla Cybertruck has over double the sales of the Ford F150 Lightning after only starting sales this year.

Tesla Cybertruck is clearly killing demand for the Ford F150 Lightning.

Dumb.
To know is essentially the same as not knowing. The only thing that occurs is the rearrangement of atoms in your brain.

But hopefully progress with batteries etc. is so rapid that it won't matter all that much in the medium term.

While the end of the tax credit would harm Tesla sales, it would absolutely devastate competition. Perhaps Elon sees this as a long-term positive.

Hyundai's three-row Ioniq 9 EV is built for serious comfort
By Abhimanyu Ghoshal
November 21, 2024
Hyundai has just taken the wraps off its Ioniq 9, an electric crossover SUV aimed at families and camping enthusiasts. This entirely new addition to the company's EV lineup is set to launch in the US and other markets in 2025.

What's especially exciting about this model is all the thoughtful features included for maximum comfort. Here's a rundown of what you can look forward to, depending on where you're seated.

With three rows of seats, the newest Ioniq can seat six or seven passengers, depending on the second row configuration you choose. The Korean carmaker says this SUV has the longest wheelbase of any Hyundai model, at 3,130 mm (123.2 in). That allows for as much as "1,899 mm [74.7 in) of headroom and 2,050 mm [80.7 in] of legroom, when second and third rows are combined." The first and second row seats can also recline fully with footrests so you can nap while juicing up the car.
