A team of video and AI engineers at Adobe Research has developed an AI application called VideoGigaGAN, that can accept a blurry video and enhance it to make it a much shaper product. The team describes their work and results in an article posted to the arXiv preprint server. They have also posted several examples of the videos that they have enhanced on their project website page.
AI applications have been in the news a lot lately, primarily due to the release of LLMs, such as ChatGPT, that consumers can use to generate a wide variety of output. But AI research has been ongoing in other areas as well, such as creating artificial images and video.
In this new effort, the team at Adobe has created an application that can accept a blurry video sample and, after processing, return the same sample with greatly enhanced sharpness and clarity—also known as upscaling.

Looks intriguing, what TED have instore over the next 40 years. I haven't been on the site in awhile and I will definitely have to see what other videos they have over the weekend.

Google/Youtube (and TED most probably) will go under in the next 40 years.

Are you suspecting that AGI might supplant traditional search engines? I don't think TED will go under though as they could just modernize their presentation format.

It's almost half a century, many things could happen by then.

Ukraine unveils AI-generated foreign ministry spokesperson
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... =hans.newsFri 3 May 2024 22.08 BST
Ukraine on Wednesday presented an AI-generated spokesperson called Victoria who will make official statements on behalf of its foreign ministry.
The ministry said it would “for the first time in history” use a digital spokesperson to read its statements, which will still be written by humans.
Dressed in a dark suit, the spokesperson introduced herself as Victoria Shi, a “digital person”, in a presentation posted on social media. The figure gesticulates with her hands and moves her head as she speaks.
The foreign ministry’s press service said that the statements given by Shi would not be generated by AI but “written and verified by real people”.
“It’s only the visual part that the AI helps us to generate,” Dmytro Kuleba, the Ukrainian foreign minister, said, adding that the new spokesperson was a “technological leap that no diplomatic service in the world has yet made”.

Re: Synthetic Media & Generative AI News and Discussions
Within the foreseeable future, it would be foolish for Hollywood studios to generate entire movies using AI.The tech does not seem ready to produce consistent products as of now, leading to disastrous results. That's why it would be smarter to start with making AI-generated animated shorts to test the waters. Does this sound like a more logical option to you?

Re: Synthetic Media & Generative AI News and Discussions
It's going to be mostly useful for Youtubers and influencers. Eventually a film studio will take the risk and do it; time will tell how well that goes
