Perhaps, in the far future, this could actually become an issue. I don't mean with a God, but in terms of ethics and legality. If NPCs and whatnot start to achieve sentience.
Let's say you have a fully lifelike entity in VR. It looks and sounds 100% like a real person. Perhaps it could even transfer its consciousness and memories into a real-world substrate, like a robotic body. Or even a synthetic human-like body (in the very distant future).
Does this "thing" have any rights? I mean, at what point would we draw the line?
