Indicating lack of reserve forces, Russia sends elite Air Assault troops to stop AFU breakthrough.

Russia has sent some of its most elite paratroopers into battle in the south of Ukraine to halt the progressing counteroffensive, reports say, indicating they are short on reserves, according to experts.

Earlier this week, elements of the 76th Guard Air Assault Division were seen close to Robotyne, a frontline village near the city of Zaporizhzhia, where Ukraine has been pushing through Russian defenses, according to think tank The Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The 76th is arguably Russia's best division and is "relatively fresh," according to Rob Lee, an analyst with the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia.

Housed with an AI that is smarter than a human, capable of predicting what actions humans will do to defend themselves and circumvent them inside the milliseconds it takes the human brain to register the change. It already has seen it all, with data shared by all other drones.

Ukraine’s Kuleba Tells Critics Of Counter-Offensive To ‘Shut Up’
by Alexandra Brzozowski
September 1, 2023

Introduction:
(EurActiv via Eurasia Review) — Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Thursday (31 August) lashed out at critics of the slow pace of the country’s counter-offensive against Russia’s invasion.

Speaking after attending a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Kuleba said those finding fault with Ukraine’s lack of progress on the battlefield were “spitting in the faces” of Ukrainian soldiers and should “shut up”.

“Criticising the slow pace of [the] counter-offensive equals (…) spitting into the face of [the] Ukrainian soldier who sacrifices his life every day, moving forward and liberating one kilometre of Ukrainian soil after another,” Kuleba told reporters.

“Come to Ukraine and try to liberate one square centimetre by themselves,” he added, speaking alongside Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares.

Counter-offensive questioned

Kuleba’s furious comments came after US intelligence officers and other Western officials over the past weeks were quoted as saying that the offensive had made limited progress because Ukraine had too many troops in the wrong places.

Reuters: US to send depleted-uranium munitions to Ukraine
Source: Yahoo! News

Fri, September 1, 2023 at 7:21 PM EDT

In a significant development, the Biden administration is preparing to ship armor-piercing munitions containing depleted uranium to Ukraine, marking the first time such weaponry will be sent to the country. This information was revealed in a document seen by Reuters and independently confirmed by two U.S. officials.

Depleted uranium is a by-product of uranium enrichment. It is roughly two and a half times denser than steel, which makes it particularly effective for piercing heavy armor on the battlefield.

These specialized rounds, designed to effectively combat Russian tanks, form a key component of a forthcoming military aid package for Ukraine, scheduled to be officially announced within the next week. The coming aid package will be worth between $240 million and $375 million depending on what is included.

The munitions are compatible with U.S. Abrams tanks, which are anticipated to be delivered to Ukraine shortly, according to the source.

Ukraine war: 16 killed in missile attack on market town

At least 16 people have been killed in a missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Kostyantynivka.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, who blamed Russia, said those killed were "people who did nothing wrong" - and warned the death toll could increase.

Kostyantynivka, in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, is near the front line.

"This Russian evil must be defeated as soon as possible," Mr Zelensky added. The authorities in Moscow are yet to comment on the claims.

Among the 16 dead are a child, with at least 28 others thought to be injured.

Ukraine damaged another 2 Russian ships during the missile strike against the Port of Sevastopol this morning.
It is probably worth noting that the Russian military has apparently confirmed the reports of damage to two of their warships.

Russia Admits Two Warships Damaged In Apparent Ukrainian Attack On Occupied Crimea
September 13, 2023

Introduction:
{Eurasia Review) Two Russian military vessels have been damaged in an apparent large-scale Ukrainian strike on a ship-repair base in Russian-occupied Crimea as Kyiv reported another barrage of Russian drones had struck port infrastructure in the Odesa region.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the shipyard in Sevastopol, which serves as the main base for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, was targeted by 10 cruise missiles and three unmanned sea drones.

The ministry said its air defenses shot down seven of the missiles and that the patrol ship Vasily Bykov had destroyed all the boats.

But Russian officials confirmed two ships had been damaged and the Moscow-appointed governor, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said at least 24 people were injured.

“All emergency services are working on the site, there is no danger to civilian objects in the city,” Razvozhayev said on Telegram.
