What are the chances of a September 11 like Terrorist attack happening in the 21st century?

We all know that airport security has improved exponentially since the September 11 Terrorist attack. Though that does make us immune. I was thinking about this after watching a Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 video. The pilot could have taken the plane head first into a building of a near by country if it was indeed the pilot who was behind everything. Also what are airport security like in 3rd country/terrorist's countries couldn't an airliner be taken from there for the purpose of terrorism?

9/11 was in the 21st century...
Truthfully, there is still a possibility of using airliners as weapons although these days that is primarily smaller aircraft or drones. There isn't anything potentially stopping a lone suicidal pilot from potentially going on a mass killing spree (an even worse Germanwings Flight 9525 if you will).

I'm not sure if high but until everything is fully digital in our world per IoT and many other things I guess it will still be a concern. I guess anything from 2030 onwards is something to be mindful of. I say that because with this big push of meeting certain goals like electric vehicles and all this green tech by 2030 even if it is in laws it will surely cause something. You also have to think about how the Boomer and younger generations got satisfied with being comfortable in the pre 2020 era and now that tech is slowly speeding up a bit you can see the concerns of people or hear about it in person.
Definitely something to think about.

High, particularly in "third world countries" though it could happen anywhere (At least until 2030). Expect many (over 30) civilian deaths from drones until then.

I'd be more concerned about some infrastructural hacking attempt than airplanes these days. The original attacks were also "partly" due to incompetence on part of the administration at the time.
In light of current events, bioweapons are also troublesome. While the pandemic is not manmade based on our current evidence, the response to it in either case has been horrendous. An actual manmade pandemic would be a nightmare.
