Another relaunch from an old thread:
This is a place where we post and contemplate visual art pieces, preferably paintings but generally any still image with artistic merit.

Ilya Repin, 1880–1891
I love this image. So rowdy, dynamic, and classically badass, oozing medieval-Renaissance machismo.

My favourite painting:
Bal du moulin de la Galette (1876), by Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

Was also my grandma's favourite painting (she passed away in 2014).

That particular painting reminds me of one of my other favorites:

Re: The Art Thread
This is one of my favorite paintings. I'm not that good at art, but I'm interested, and I try to read something to improve my knowledge, and also when I travel, I always visit museums. Two months ago, I was in Paris, and I saw that painting with my own eyes. I liked it even more than the world-famous Mona Lisa. There is something about it, and I just can't explain what. There is also one course at my university, where we discuss art, its' history and so on. And I love the lectures so much, although for me it's hard sometimes to take part in the discussion. Today I also came across [spam link removed] where I found different interesting essay examples on art, and it's so great I found it because I need to write one paper on art history. And that source will for sure be very helpful for me. And also, I need to choose one art piece and describe it, and maybe, I'll write about Bal du moulin de la Galette.wjfox wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 12:05 pm My favourite painting:
