To use an analogy: if I wanna beat a legless Mike Tyson in a fight, I'm not gonna walk up and try to strangle him in his bed, I'm gonna throw bricks from across the room. Humanity in this story is the legless Mike Tyson: physically formidable up close but sorely lacking in mobility.
