People like saying that we should focus on improving our world. What is in my head is when someone says such words is how? How do we go about improving other peoples countries when they're unwlling to do it themselves? Are they seriously suggesting that we invade other nations and force them to improve?? The same person probably would join protest against it the next year or decade after we did so.
All with the idea in my mind that going into space, moon, mars and outwards means possible resources for my countryand billions of more dollars for science and education for our young adults to make it happen. I just feel that we do in fact benefit from space exploration and possibly by the resources that we can get through doing so. How does not doing so benefit us?

Re: People like saying that we should focus on improving our world
Sanctions aren't hard, and passing the burden of improving the world onto "other countries" isn't particularly constructive. Every country has a role to play in this, and using other countries as an excuse to not do anything is particularly hypocritical and phony.
"Just go to space lol" is not a viable immediate solution. It is a distraction tactic from Elon when it comes to the issue of climate change.
This binary of "go to space" or "invade other countries" is quite misleading, to be honest.

Why not do both? The mid to long term introduction of the resources from space could greatly enhance the development of this planet.

Thanks for talking sense! I can't wait for America's interstellar empire to begin in January!weatheriscool wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 3:06 am Why not do both? The mid to long term introduction of the resources from space could greatly enhance the development of this planet.

Well yes, this makes sense. As I said, it should not be a binary. Sure, we should prioritize fixing this planet, but that doesn't mean we can't reap additional benefits from space exploration. It's just that we shouldn't jump the gun on colonizing Mars, as I've repeated many times.weatheriscool wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 3:06 am Why not do both?
