Future Timeline

What would you use/own? 1. A level 4-5 driverless car, 2. Flying car/drone car, and 3. Jet pack. I'd use and like to own them all. Got to get them all to market. 1 Would save tens of thousand of people per year and save billions in hospitalization.

1. Driverless cars like FSD but with level 4 or 5 would kick ass. Would love to see this become a choice for old and disabled people one day. Maybe governments could remove the wheel and just have said people tell it where to go. A god sent.

2. Flyingcar/drone car for longer range vacations.

3. Jet pack to moms place! 15-25 minutes to go there. I'd like to see a electric turbine jet pack that could be plugged in at your home or someone elses to recharge.

This would be a fun future in my mind.

1 and 2 can easily be consolidated; jetpacks are completely unnecessary imo.

This, combined with mass transportation, would seriously improve urban design. One could even argue that mass transportation would eliminate much of the need for owning one's means of transport.

Jet packs would be terrifying.

But imagine short trips a couple of miles to the store or to the park? A flying car is nice but sometimes you just want to hope over everything for a quick trip.

I'm trying to imagine it.

I can imagine landing too fast and breaking lots of bones. Or clipping somebody's house and damaging tiles on their rooftop. Or trying to avoid birds, power lines, etc. And wondering where to store this bulky contraption when not in use. And hearing the frequent roar of other people's jetpacks over my neighbourhood.

Jetpacks might be fun in certain highly controlled environments like theme parks or whatever. But hardly practical for everyday use. At least for now. They'd probably make more sense on low-gravity moons/planets when we start colonising them.
