A Tech CEO’s Lonely Fight Against Trump
A battle between Anthropic’s Dario Amodei and the White House pits worries about safe development against a free-market approach
Source: WSJ
Unfortunately paywalled, so I'm adding in this image taken from r/singularity - In all honesty, if I hadn't had so much invested within ChatGPT/Open AI, I'd gladly utilize Claude. Dario appears to have the most integrity out of the AI CEOs and speaks out the most regarding job displacement emphasizing the need to have policies in place right this moment.

Re: Anthropic – potential rival to OpenAI
bullshitSome in the administration saw Sacks’s attacks against Anthropic as odd, given the quality of its models, and viewed the executive order as a potential effort to boost Musk’s AI startup xAI, which explicitly aims to be politically neutral.

Meh
Not impressed
I would have been a year or two ago but the novelty of AI is fading fast and the results just aren't there
In compsci terms, it's 1923, and that argument that "we couldn't do this 5 years ago" is like saying "20 years ago there was no such thing as powered flight!" when someone building a barely-better-than-Wright-Flyer tries arguing you should still be impressed
"codes for 30 hours"
And just how good and novel is that code
If it seems like I'm moving the goalposts, I absolutely am, and we absolutely should keep doing so if anyone cares about AGI.
And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future

Yeah it didn't push the frontier, nor did it herald robotics improvements or whatever

Grieving family uses AI chatbot to cut hospital bill from $195,000 to $33,000 — family says Claude highlighted duplicative charges, improper coding, and other violations

An individual whose brother-in-law recently passed has explained how they managed to slash the hospital medical bills left behind from hundreds to tens of thousands. Nthmonkey on Threads claims that they disputed the hospital’s original bill of $195,000 for treatment of their relative’s final four hours of intensive care after a heart attack. According to them, AI chatbot advice was instrumental in analytically, calmly, and coolly reducing the bill to a far more reasonable $33,000. We have not independently verified the poster's story, so view it with the appropriate level of skepticism.
