This is why I trust Claude and have become very fond of it and Anthropic over the likes of XAI's sycophant Musk bot. It's good we have a company like Anthropic in the space.

Introducing Claude Sonnet 4.6
Seems very good most especially paired with Claude Work.Claude Sonnet 4.6 is our most capable Sonnet model yet. It’s a full upgrade of the model’s skills across coding, computer use, long-context reasoning, agent planning, knowledge work, and design. Sonnet 4.6 also features a 1M token context window in beta.
Performance that would have previously required reaching for an Opus-class model—including on real-world, economically valuable office tasks—is now available with Sonnet 4.6. The model also shows a major improvement in computer use skills compared to prior Sonnet models.

Re: Anthropic – potential rival to OpenAI
Fascist fruitcakes. Everything regarding the situation at present goes against every principle of the free market. Anthropic should never be considered a supply-chain-risk just because they don't want their technology to be used against the very people it's supposed to empower.
This is also ridiculous just because the Pentagon, whiskyleaks Pete more specifically, seem to need Anthropic's Claude in particular for this, rather than attempting to devise an AI of their own. Open AI and Google have signed petitions to support Anthropic in their decision, which is good, and Silicon Valley mostly needs to support this, or the precedent of the government strongarming companies will be set.
We are just a breath away from the idea of the government nationalizing corporations outright if they don't adhere to the whims of children in power. Akin to both China and Russia, and I'm glad Anthropic decided to draw a line here. Claude has become one of the best AI's for so many things on a daily basis, and Anthropic itself is principled.

Anthropic chief back in talks with Pentagon about AI deal

IDK if this is a good idea? They got a lot of support and goodwill from the public for getting the short end of the stick from the DoW. Now they might risk losing it again? Maybe if they clearly emphasize their redlines to the public, things will be fine? IDK? Them working with the military in the first place makes me uncomfortable. After all, their tech was used in the intervention in Venezuela.
