Netflix has released a trailer for the new Star Trek series, Discovery, which is set to debut on 25th September. This will be the first Star Trek TV series since Star Trek: Enterprise concluded in 2005. Set during the mid-23rd century, roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series, Discovery will be separate from the timeline of the concurrent feature films. Following the crew of the USS Discovery, it will explore the cold war between the Klingon empire and the United Federation of Planets.
"We're trying to do stories that are complicated, with characters with strong points of view and strong passions," executive producer Aaron Harberts said in a recent interview. "People have to make mistakes – mistakes are still going to be made in the future. We're still going to argue in the future."
The show will be broadcast weekly at $6 to 7 million per episode. Michelle Yeoh will star as Captain Philippa Georgiou, alongside Sonequa Martin-Green as her First Officer.
